    I have a TCL 65QLED760 (2022) with EARC and a Yamaha RX-481 with ARC .

I was watching the new Aladdin 4K remaster and it defaulted to Dolby Atoms 7.1 True HD on Jellyfin. And insted of sending it as a 5.1 DD+ signal as it should do as my reciver dosent support EARC it says its reciving a 48Khz PCM 2.0 signal.

I still get the surround sound as i hear sound from all my speakers and made sure it wasn,t using Dolby Pro logic or something similar by putting on a movie with a Stero Track and it was only using L and R. But when i change Aladdin to the DD fall back track the reciver shows Dolby Digital. Jellyfin is set to bitstreaming and the TV is set to Pass Trough.

I am mostly wondering why this is happening as i am a bit confused my self and dont seem to be able to find an answer. If i understand it right normal ARC shouldent normaly do multichannel PCM and if it does the reciver would show it as 5.1 and not 2.0.

If Jellyfin is able to direct play the content, it simply passes the audio of the source file through completely unmodified. So my guess is that, if the audio is actually being converted to something other than source, it's your TV that's responsible. 5.1ch PCM audio IS a thing that exists though. So you might simply be wrong about the number of channels on the PCM audio track.

I know 5.1 PCM is a thing but have heard ARC only supports PCM 2.1 and you would need eARC to get 5.1 PCM. It at least works and i am probably getting DD+ quality better than normal DD would love to uppgrade to a never reciver that supports eARC. Have bin going in the toughts of getting a shield but beacuse my current reciver dosent support Dolby Vission and HDR plus i would losse that for higher sound quality if i dont uppgrade the reciver to.
