Hey folks, a strange problem has been happening randomly without any apparent rhyme or reason.

Once every week or so, Jellyfin will fail to start, despite the fact that I've done nothing different. It just won't load, and I'll receive this notification:

I tried the possible solutions that other users have previously suggested, such as deleting the migrations log file and reinstalling/running as administrator, but they haven't worked. They only thing that temporarily has worked is a full reinstall, which is obviously a huge pain due to losing all of my library settings.

Does anyone know how to properly fix this issue? It's pretty strange.

    Thanks!

It would help to see the logs when the issue happens.

What would be the best way of showing you the logs? Can't seem to add them as an attachment. Thanks!

When posting a reply, at the bottom of the page is an area to upload an attachment or you can use a service like Pastebin.

Copy that - the built-in attachment function isn't letting me upload a .log file, so here's a Pastebin link. Thanks!

Is that the entire log? It only shows a bunch of library scan related logs. Can you find a log that includes Jellyfin starting up?

One thing I did notice is that it keeps re-scanning the same content multiple times? Can you describe your setup? Hardware specs and where your media is stored?

So, there is a new more recent log that's almost 3 mb - too large for Pastebin, google drive won't take it, and I can't upload it here for some reason (the attachment keeps failing). Would you know of another way to share a .log file?

My setup is one internal hard 7200rpm HDD drive with one master Jellyfin folder, containing two subfolders - one for movies and one for shows. They're two separate libraries - a show library and a movie library.

    Windows 11 Home
    Version 24H2
    OS build 26100.3194
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.48.0

    Processor Intel® Core™ i7-10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz  3.79 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.9 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    NVIDIA GeForce 3070

It was working fine for a week or two, and then I got the above problem. Had to reinstall and it worked for another week and then happened again. It's very strange.

Zip the log then attach it to a forum post. Should be small enough after zipping it.

You're probably going to need to look in the Windows event viewer. The log isn't showing anything.

What happens if launch the jellyfin tray app as admin?
