Hi, i need some help. Jellyfin keeps on starting a process called FFmpeg.exe i think its because it is processing something like a tricker image but i cant see the process happening and the active process is keeping me from ejecting my external SSD. it could be really helpful if you guys could either answer me how i can shutdown the process or how i can watch it and see how far it is to be done.

Go to the dashboard. Any active jobs will be listed there and their progress. But there is no indicator for when the job will complete. If your Jellyfin server is running, and your media is on the external drive, why would you eject the external HDD?

I am but can't see any active jobs, even though i see that jellyfin is using FFmpeg.exe in the background in task manager.

Can you share your logs via privatebin.net?

The one you provided is a transcode log.

That is the main server log: log_20250415.log

On some systems it may be called jellyfin20250415.log.

Looks like ffmpeg is generating trickplays and is continually failing. It looks like it is taking too long before the timeout counter ends and kills the process. So it never really finishes and keeps trying, maybe?

What are the specs of your system? And did you enable any of the acceleration options for generating trickplays? One setting that really speeds things up is "Only generate images from key frames".
