I'm new here, new to Jellyfin and new to Truenas.  I'm trying to setup NAS that will host Jellyfin and my media.  I was able to run Jellyfin on a windows 10 PC, but was not able to get it to connect to a network share on my windows server.

Now I'm trying to use Truenas Scale (latest version) and installing Jellyfin on it.  I'm able to get Jellyfin to run on the server and to connect to the server to configure it, but when I try to create the library, I can't find the share path.  The files are shared as a SMB folder and I can see them form a windows machine, but I can't find them from Jellyfin.

Any sugestions on where I'm going wrong?  Thanks

If you are trying to directly access the SMB share with the network path, either from Jellyfin in Windows or Jellyfin in TrueNAS, that won't work. In Windows you have to mount the SMB share to a drive letter and then add the drive letter to Jellyfin. In TrueNAS you have to do something similar. Mount the SMB share to the TrueNAS file system.

Unless you installed Jellyfin on a VM on Truenas Scale, you need to host mount the directories you need directly in the app's settings.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you are running Jellyfin on the Truenas Scale server and expecting it to pull the SMB share from the Windows PC. That's not how it works.

By chance, did you install TrueChart's Jellyfin app and never uninstalled it? That was the only Jellyfin app on Scale that provided a direct way of mounting a network share from the app settings.
I just checked and the community app doesn't offer that. And when you custom run an image, there's also no other place to use an SMB share.

I'm running Jellyfin (installed from the catalog in Truenas) and I figured it would set the sever so it was accessible. I need to connect 3 LG tvs to it. I have the SMB share so I can move files from the network to Truenas. If I'm not mistaken, Jellyfin is running in a docker container. I just haven't figured out if the issue is with Jellyfin, Truenas, or me. I never installed TrueChart. I just installed from the catalog in Truenas.

As I said, you need to go to the Jellyfin app on your Truenas Scale machine, and open its settings.
In the settings, you need to add your library folders as a host mount for the app to use.
