I guess on a practical level, is it best to generate/create my own nfo files for my files or does Jellyfin provide a starting point for nfo metadata?

I adjusted the following in one of my libraries for a test:

    DASHBOARD>LIBRARIES>LIBRARY>"manage library">
    under "Metadata savers"
    CHECKED BOX "Nfo"
"Pick the file formats to use when saving your metadata"
I rescanned the library exchanging the metadata and I can't find nfo files.

My hope was to generate nfo files for my libraries from the existing metadata that Jellyfin has stored already, if necessary move these nfo files to their respective individual show/movie folders, and edit them to fix/add any data I felt wasn't working well.
Did I assume incorrectly that these nfo files are suppose to be generated for the purpose of easy editing or are they saved in a format and/or location not easily accessible?
Sorry if this is long, I'm trying to track down where I've assumed something wrong.

    I'm running Jellyfin 10.8.13 on Win11 x64,
I've looked in the usual places.

The only place I found nfo files was:
    C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin\Server\artists
and these nfos seem to only be referencing music.

    thank you.

Jellyfin will save the NFOs in the same folder as the media.

If you enabled NFO saver on an existing library nothing with happen right away. Jellyfin will only create NFOs going forward unless you "replace all metadata" for the library and force Jellyfin to rescan everything. Then it will create NFOs.

First, thank you for answering my questions.
I was pretty sure I did this before I made this question, but I did it again just in case.
I rescanned and selected all metadata (including images) to be replaced.

And so I'm being completely clear:
Suppose my library is at f:\TV shows
    and I have a show "test" at f:\TV shows\test
You're saying the nfo for "test" should be in the test directory? or the root f:\TV shows?
Either way, there are no nfo files and there should be many.

    In the test directory.

    Does Jellyfin have write permissions?

Can you share your jellyfin log?
