Perhaps you can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Several versions ago (pre-10 at least), when I was first building my library, I was able to make changes to the files in a film's directory, then go to that film in Jellyfin and select Refresh>Scan for New and Updated Files, and Jellyfin would locate deleted/renamed/added files and update immediately.

FF to today and I'm trying to do the same thing - I delete a movie file, go to the movie for a re-scan and nothing changes in the film.

As an example, I just deleted one version of a film I have two copies of. Update didn't change the availability of both versions. So I moved the actual film directory out of my library directory and rescanned - the film is still in my Jellyfin program showing 2 versions (though it can't load any of the images, because they are gone).

I would check the permissions of the config directory for Jellyfin and would make sure Jellyfin has proper access to it.

I don't think there's a permissions issue. I can manually change anything... it just doesn't automatically remove it on a rescan.

What happens when you press play on the deleted film? I would specifically check the file path of the deleted film by clicking on 'Media Info'.

I only ask because this is how I found out that a dupe was actually an incorrectly tagged film, that by pure coincidence had been tagged identically to another one in my library.

.e.g. I had two copies of 'The Wages of Fear' showing. Weird because I only have one copy on the hard drive.

Turns out it had tagged the movie 'Fear' as 'The Wages of Fear' and I was on a wild goose chase.

I appreciate the thought. I did confirm it was the same file and they do eventually disappear naturally (possibly on a full scan of the movies library, I don’t recall but could check).

It just seems that a scan of the movie itself is hit or miss in reading updates.
