I'm running 10.8.13 in docker on a HP Microserver Gen8 with OMV7 as a backend (Debian). If I try to watch a movie using the web client the movie will freeze at the same location (2:53) if I use direct streaming. Other movies will freeze at slightly different marks, but always in the first few minutes. The movies are blu-ray remuxes and there is no issue with bandwidth.

However, if I enable subtitles (PGS) so that the video is also transcoded, then the movie plays without any issues. I can see in the ffmpeg log and in the transcoded directory while it's direct streaming that the transcoding never stops, but once the video freeze it won't resume playback again. This is not a issue I've noticed specifically with 10.8.13. I've had this issue as long as I can remember but I was hoping there could be something I could do to solve this. I recently did a completely fresh install of the whole server with a new ssd but that didn't solve anything. I have a hard time believing the video files themselves are corrupt, they playback just fine with VLC etc. I even re-ripped this movie with the same issue.

I have disabled Throttle Transcodes and I don't use hardware acceleration.

The movie froze at 19:15:29 in the example I provided.

I can also add that using JMP/Kodi works perfectly fine, I only have an issue with the web client when direct streaming.

Any particular reason you aren't using hardware acceleration? Intel iGPUs are very capable for transcoding.

Regardless, can you turn on debug logging, replicate the problem, and then share the new log with us?
