Apologies if this has come up before - newbie who has just installed Jellyfin today. I have just set up Jellyfin server on my pc and client on my TV and can see a home video that is in my library (just have one video in the library at the moment for test purposes) so everything appears to be working. On my pc I have two main folders of home videos - lets call them son1 and son2. At the moment each folder contains something like 50 - 70 videos and they are numbered 1, 2, 3, and so on. Additionally in son1 and son2 folders I have a text file listing the title and date of each video. Considering say, son1, I can put all these in my Jellyfin library and so see videos 1, 2, 3, etc on the client/TV - but how to index them/display a text file as per my pc (if that is the best way of doing this)? I have the same problem obviously when it comes to folder son2. (I am pointing my Jellyfin server to that part of my pc that contains these movies so I'm not duplicating anything, just calling my pc media library the Jellyfin library. I'm happy to re-arrange my pc media library if it makes the Jellyfin experience more manageable).
At the moment if son1 says "I would like to see the video of when I climbed that hill in Spain in 1998" I can just look up the text file as see that the video he is referring to is number 37 - I am not sure the best method of moving/changing this environment to a server/client arrangement like Jellyfin.
Any advice appreciated.
