I have a windows 10 instal of Jellyfin (version 10.10.3) on a old Acer Nitro 5 laptop (7th gen i5 processer). The TV is a PHILIPS Ambilight 55PUS6754 and can't instal any apps unnfortunatley.

I am trying to watch vidoes on my TV via DLNA. My TV can see the files but wont play them. If I use the TV browser to access the files it plays them succesfully but its very cumbersome to do so.

On my PS4 I can see the files each of the videos is in. About half of these files show now videos in them. The other files have the video files visible but only the audio will play with an image frame of the video file.

I can play the files on my desktop and worklaptop in the Jellyfin Media play no problem. Its just over DLNA I have the issue.

I am very very new to all of this but am happy to try and provide logs etc to try and bug fix! Any ideas would be very helpful

You could get a Roku and use that to access Jellyfin.

The best option is to create a custom DLNA profile for your TV. Right now it is probably using the default DLNA profile.

Do I do that in Jellyfin or on the TV?

In Jellyfin. C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin\Server\plugins\DLNA_5.0.0.0\profiles. You'd copy another profile in there, rename the file, then edit the device name and modify the "direct play profiles" and "transcode profiles" to match your TV's capabilities.

Ok I managed to connect the DLNA first time with a Samsung TV I have no problem. That combined with my TV and PS4 working with Universal Media Server make me think its a problem with the TV and playstation OS interfacing with Jellyfin.

I see there is a DLNA profile for the PS4 in that file but I'm not sure what I need to do to edit it, is there a guide somewhere?
