    Hello,
I am currently switching from Synology Video Station to Jellyfin and have a question/problem.
I recorded some TV series and created a library for them and created a folder with the series name.
When I scan or rescan the library now everything is recognized correctly, for example here the series "Dr. Nice".

But if I move the series folder into a subfolder such as "my Records" and rescan the library, all the information is gone Slightly-frowning-face

    Why is that?
    Can I change that?

What is your folder structure, from the root of the drive?

JF looks for TV Series in each their own folder by series name (plus premiere year helps) and then subfolers that contain each seasons, even for only a single season show. For example:

    G:\TV Shows\Dr. Nice (2023)
    \Season 1
    \Season 2

If you want to move the series into a different folder then you need to make that main folder the path for JellyFin to see, so:

    G:\my records\

If you set the path of Jellyfin to just G:\ then it won't see further into the folder chain to find Dr. Nice. Or any other TV Series.

The Video folder on my NAS is "Video".

So the folder structure who is working perfect ist:

    -video
    --TEST Jellyfin - Serien
    ---my Records
    ---Dr. Nice
    ----S01E01
    ----S01E02

this is how all metadata is found.
if i move now "Dr. Nice" to the subfolder "my Records" the folder structure is.

    -video
    --TEST Jellyfin - Serien
    ---my Records
    ----Dr. Nice
    -----S01E01
    -----S01E02

so no metadata is found Slightly-frowning-face

Which folder is the library pointed at? I'm assuming "TEST". If that is the cause, putting "Dr. Nice" under "my Records" is not supported. Nesting a show under another folder is not supported.

This documentation outlines all the supported folder structures.

If you are putting episodes directly into the series folder, even for a series with only 1 season, you shouldn't. You need to make everything the same and each season should be in it's own season folder.

And as DreadPirate stated, you have to point JF at the main folder containing all TV series folders within. You can't go higher up the folder chain. Is My Records a TV Show? Or just a folder name? IF the later then that path is what JF needs to see as the source, and again put your episodes into season sub-folders.
