Hey everyone, 15yr veteran of the Plex community, recently ditched it for Jellyfin (and loving it!), but I'm having a problem I hope someone can help with. I can't seem to get my Jellyfin install to create appropriate seasons for shows with date-based naming conventions. I've been searching for days and can't find anyone describing what I'm seeing, so I thought I'd come here and make my first post - here are the details:
    • Release: For tv series that are date-based (ex: Colbert, Daily Show, Maddow, Kimmel, etc) [removed by bitmap] named like: Stephen.Colbert.2025.06.10.Nicolle.Wallace.1080p.WEB.h264-JOAN
      [removed by bitmap]
    • Processed: The resulting file [following altered by bitmap], renamed, looks like: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2015) - 2025-06-10 - Nicolle Wallace, Cyndi Lauper WEBDL-1080p x264 AAC 2.0 JOAN.mkv
    • Jellyfin: When my Jellyfin install sees files named like the one above, it creates a Season Unkonwn season folder

    What am I missing?

I have altered much of your post as talk about media acquisition is strictly prohibited. I tried to keep the gist of it intact.

This probably comes down to how your folders/files are set up. For series, particularly ones without a season number in the naming scheme, you need to place them inside a season folder. TVDB has this episode in Season 10. The tool you mentioned can create this sort of organization.

    Apologies, and thank you.

Just wanted to confirm for anyone else reading this that the solution is indeed to enable Season Folders within Sona...the tool you're using, ahem, and Jellyfin will just use them without further complaint.
