For some context, here is my setup:
OS: Windows 11 Pro, with Jellyfin installed via the official server binary (version 10.10.7)
Client Used: LG WebOS TV (running Jellyfin WebOS client 1.2.2) specifcally the LG OLED55B7V
Hi All,
I've been having problems with getting Dolby Vision to play back on my LG WebOS TV, and even getting any sort of normal, non-DV HDR content to play back in HDR. I've read that WebOS doesn't really like the .mkv container and therefore will refuse to play any DV content back in .mkv, but then I thought that Jellyfin 10.9.0 fixed that by allowing remuxing to .mp4 on the fly?
I've tried downloading jellyfin-ffmpeg and replacing ffmpeg that I had on my PATH with this but to no avail, it still refuses to play back DV or HDR. I've also tried ensuring that all of my DV films have been converted to DV Profile 8.1 instead of Profile 7.6 because 7.6 is not compatible. What's interesting is that in the 'playback info' on the WebOS client it says that the reasons for transcoding are:
- The video's range is not supported
- Video codec not supported
- Audio codec not supported
I just wanted to ask if anyone else has had a similar issue and could possibly provide some advice on how to fix the issue?
Would I be better off buying a separate streaming device, for example a Shield TV? If so, which one would you guys recommend?
Thank you in advance.
