    Hi everyone,

I have been running into fatal playback errors whenever I enable hardware acceleration on my Windows 11 server.

    Steps taken:

    1. Looked up my graphics card's specs/generation and made a note of the file types it can help play.
    2. Updated the graphic's card's drivers.
    3. Per the documentation, disabled [Use hardware graphics adapters for all Remote Desktop Services sessions].
    4. Enabled QSV and unchecked all unsupported codecs, then saved settings.

    Server specs:

    OS: Windows 11 Pro
    Version: 24H2
    OS build: 26100.6584
Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.234.0
    -
    Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz (3.19 GHz)
Installed RAM: 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
GPU Intel® UHD Graphics Family (8th generation)
    DAC Type: Internal
Adapter String: Intel® UHD Graphics 630
    BIOS Info: Intel Video BIOS

    Jellyfin version 10.10.7_windows_x64 (Windows Installer)

See attached log for the most recent fatal playback error.

I'm new to Jellyfin and believe this is probably some sort of settings issue or step I've missed when trying to enable hardware acceleration in my server.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you checked the format support for your processor for QSV, and correlate that with your JF settings:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video

I see you CPU is Coffee Lake. I have a Braswell CPU in my NAS and there is no way QSV will work with that at all, even with the correct JF settings. I think older processors just stop working with QSV. Have you tried VAAPI instead?

Hopefully someone with the same set up as you can assist you better.
Jellyfin1 - 10.10.7 (Docker) Synology NAS (transcoding off)
    Jellyfin2 - 10.10.7 Minix ZX100-0db MiniPC, Intel N100 (transcoding on)
    Storage - x3 Synology NAS (22TB)
    Reverse Proxy - Caddy v2 running on a Pi3b+

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I checked here to see what my graphics card would play and checked off the applicable file types under Dashboard/Transcoding.

See attached for what my settings were. I pretty much left everything at the default setting.

Have not tried VAAPI yet. Didn't know that was an option.

EDIT: I ran the Intel utility that identifies my CPU to see if Quick Sync was enabled, and that feature was not showing on the list. Looks like the root of my issue is that my CPU does not have Quick Sync.

Everything is working quite well without hardware acceleration; I was just hoping to take full advantage of my new PC.

Open to any/all feedback in case I missed something.

    Code:
    Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (hevc (native) -> av1 (av1_qsv))

    https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/igpu-intel...aphics_630

Your iGPU doesn't support AV1 encoding or decoding.
