    Hi all,

New to Jellyfin media hosting and always learning about home theater in general.

Currently using a Roku Ultra (201Nerd-face with the Jellyfin app as my client to play to my TV and home theater.  I'm finding it a little limited, particularly in the audio department (my troubleshooting is leading me to believe best I will see is Dolby Digital and DTS audio output from the Roku, despite having DTS HD MA, True HD, and Dolby Atmos content; plus the outputs are inconsistent, with DTS sometimes coming across as Dolby Digital).

Seeking a guide to help me understand and choose the best hardware and software client to achieve my goals:
    • Jellyfin streaming along with other primary services all in one - Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Youtube
    • Best format audio outputs
    • 4K/UHD
    • Wifi
    • IR remote capable
    • Simple to set up and maintain (would prefer a standard Jellyfin app as a player)
    • Ideally limited ads/ad-free

Can anyone offer suggestions or point me to a guide?

    Thanks!

If audio support is a big deal, there is really only one option: Nvidia Shield Pro.

It's a bit old, but still has relevant video codec support, has pretty much THE best audio format support of any streaming device, and was so ahead of its time for CPU power and memory that it is still offers a smooth UI experience.

    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE

Thanks.  How does the Fire TV Cube stack up to the Nvidia Shield Pro?

Not great. It is pretty much Nvidia Shield Pro head and shoulders above everything else in terms of audio passthrough support.
