Hi! I'm new to media servers in general, but I'm long overdue to buy one and I finally have the cash available.

I'm planning on building a new computer mainly for Jellyfin and torreting, and I'm thinking of some hardware like:

    - Intel Core i3-14100F (It's only 20 bucks more than the 13100F)
    - Intel Arc AXX (I'm unsure if there is a differece for transcoding between them)
    - 2 x 8GB DDR4 3200
    - Some Micro ATX motherboard with a H610 Chipset
    - Some 80PLUS Gold power supply
    - Some M.2 SSD to store OS and Jellyfin
    - 4 x Seagate IronWolf HDD of 4TB
    - SilverStone CS382

There should be 2 to 3 users for Jellyfin and I would need to transfer ~6TB of media from my PC. I would happly accept recommendations and changes to my build.

I'm planning to spend ~1500USD on it.

All good choices......and not because they are mostly identical to my setup.   Upside-down-face

The entire Arc line up has the same media engine and number of media engines.  So getting an A770 will not make a difference over the A310.  Where things change is tone mapping, which is VRAM intensive.  The A380 is a good middle ground.  The 6GB of VRAM can handle 5-6 tone mapped transcodes.  For plain transcoding, my testing resulted in about 20 simultaneous transcodes.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB

4x WD Red Pro 6TB CMR in RAIDZ1
