I recently added some HDR content to my library, but my Jellyfin clients seem to be having difficulty showing the correct colors. The stream is direct playing and acknowledges that the media has a range of HDR10. Furthermore, opening the file directly on my device with MPV shows the correct colors. However, both my Wayland KDE Linux device and my Steam Deck setup, both with HDR enabled on the monitors, have the washed-out colors.
To further complicate the mystery, installing Jellyfin from the Arch repositories seems to render the colors properly. It is only the Flatpak build that has this problem. Furthermore, I cannot replicate this problem between the different MPV installations, hinting that this is not necessarily a Flatpak-inherent issue. I would use the repository build, except that the Steam Deck has a read-only root file system (i.e. Flatpak or nothing).
Has anyone else run into this problem?
