    Hello everyone,

I have a 4K HDR10 movie on my Jellyfin Server Version 10.8.13 and when I tried to play it on 4K NON-HDR Toshiba Television on Firestick 4K MAX Jellyfin client, the image is still washed out in Exoplayer and in LibVLC.
Enabling and disabling tone mapping doesn't affect anything.

    Specs:
    Processor: Intel Core i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz  2.90 GHz
Installed RAM 32,0 GB (31,8 GB usable)
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 630 (Driver version 31.0.101.2127)

    OS:
    Edition Windows 11 Pro
    Version 22H2
    OS build 22621.3296
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22687.1000.0

Tone mapping on the server would only happen if it is transcoding. It sounds like the client isn't requesting a transcode. Are you able to verify that either in the logs or by showing the playback info in the client?

    Thanks for the answer TheDreadPirate!

I managed it to work if I set bitrate to 10Mbit/s or lower. This triggers to transcode and get the right colors. I don't know how to use logs but I see in task manager when transcoding starts.

Is there any other way to force tone mapping? Is this problem with Android TV client or Jellyfin server?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure if the problem is Jellyfin on Android TV or FireOS. Since you have a 4K HDR capable Firestick on a non-HDR 4K TV. I'm not sure which component is responsible for the issue. My understanding is that Jellyfin asks the OS about the connected TV's capabilities.
