    Looking for suggestions on transcoding settings.

    maybe not a great way to encode the video anyway? avi is a bit odd these days, isnt it? I could just run them through handbrake maybe.

    The only other suggestion is check if Metal is installed.

    Not sure if that is strictly necessary or not. Not sure what else to suggest beyond this.

    I am at my limit regarding this topic since I don't have any Macs. But it may just be that Apple Videotoolbox no longer supports your GPU.

    Metal is part of the OS, so I don't think there is a thing as, making sure its there.

    I may use a different computer. I have an old 7th Gen i5, and an AMD R5 low profile card. Or I can Handbrake everything and remove AVI's.

    The 7th gen Intel i5 would be what I'd choose of the available options.
