    Hi,

I've been testing Jellyfin server on a Macbook Pro, and have decided it's definitely earned a spot on its own dedicated machine, which will be an old Mac Mini. The media all live on an external drive, so my thought was to simply install Jellyfin on the new machine, attach the external drive, and point Jellyfin to the drive. But I'm assuming this would mean I'd have to redo a bunch of settings (many of which I've long forgotten about by now).

Are there any specific folders I should copy over from the current installation to the new one, to retain settings, etc?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed!

In WINDOWS, you would go to Dashboard > General and in the PATHS section it will show where the Cache & Metadata folders are. Back up those and you should be good to go.

I would GUESS that a MAC would have something similar, so this may be all that you need to get yourself on the right path.

If both hosts have the same username, you could probably just migrate the config folders.

    ~/.config/jellyfin/
    ~/.local/share/jellyfin/

Having the same user name matters since Jellyfin uses absolute paths for some internal files. But your media should also be in the same place for the smoothest migration.

@GarlicMash @TheDreadPirate thanks for the insight! I will copy those folders to the new system, and create a user with the same name. Greatly appreciated!
