I've setup the Subtitle Extract task and run it. It took a while but after completing I can now see Jellyfin/data/data/subtitles with multiple folders (0,1,2,3..). I'm stuck on how to configure jellyfin so that it uses these extracted subtitles instead of the embedded ones. If I play an anime with ASS subtitles on my android client it is still transcoding ("The subtitle codec is not supported"). If I go into manage library and disable embedded subtitles there is no subtitle available. For context, I'm running 10.8.13 in docker in Debian 12. Thank you for any help in solving this.

There is no configuration. Jellyfin still treats the subtitles as embedded, but some clients require the subtitle to be extracted before use. This plugin won’t change transcoding requirements.

Oh, so that's how it works. Though I honestly don't know if it's working or not as my firestick TV is still unable to play ASS subtitles even after adding this plugin. I guess it's a firestick issue as all my other clients were able to play ASS subtitles even before adding the plugin. I thought this plugin might solve that. Thanks anyway.

ASS/SSA need baking to display on Android TV so you have to enable transcoding for that
