Hello all!

I wanted to know how I can use Jellyfin MPV Shim. I don't really understand it and looking on the internet for answers wasn't really helpful either.

I want to use it particularly because of the shaders (Anime4k) but I do not understand how to make it run the media files. Is it something I configure on the Jellyfin server or MPV Shim because on either place, I can't find a way to do so.

I'd appreciate any help.

You open Jellyfin MPV Shim and then connect to your jellyfin server. Then in a browser you click on the "Cast" icon in the top right and MPV Shim should be an available target. Select it and then initiate playback in the browser. MPV Shim will start playing the video.

Oh it's that easy. Well, another question then: is there a way to also have this on my TV? Basically when I for example want to watch anime, MPV shim starts playing the video but instead of being played on my PC, it is on the Android TV.

We have an app for Android TV. You can simply use the app to browser and start playback. But, if you have the Jellyfin app open on the TV it should also be listed as a casting target from your browser.

If you strictly want MPV on the TV as a casting option by Jellyfin, about the only solution for you is to connect a PC with HDMI to the TV.

Then just start it up and cast to the MPV Shim you installed on the PC.

Yea, I get that. But then I can't use the shaders (for example Anime4k), right?
