I'm new to Jellyfin (and fairly new to having a media server), so I feel like there's something I'm just missing. I'm having an issue where when I watch MPEG2 videos, I get this slight but noticeable pixelated noise to the image. I'd expect the usual blurriness from a 480p DVD rip, but this is a blockiness that isn't in the original video file. I'm using the Jellyfin Media Player (on Windows 11) and the video info says I am doing direct play. As far as I can tell, no transcoding is happening. If I watch mkvs it looks fine. So my DVD rips look bad but blu-ray rips are good. If I watch the mpeg2 videos on Plex, it looks fine. So Jellyfin is doing something different. Is there something else I should try out to fix this? I want to be able to stick with Jellyfin. Plex is easy to use, but I'm liking Jellyfin more because it's less cluttered and I can more easily edit the metadata if I need to. Thanks.
