I'm having an issue with collections right now that's driving me nuts. one of the movie collections i created will not go away. i've tried deleting it in jellyfin and deleting it from the server under collections. it will disappear right when i delete it, but the moment i rescan it comes right back. it started when i decided that 3-4 of the movies i had as part of the collection didn't really fit the profile for said collection, so i tried to just remove those few from it, but when i would scan, they would be put right back in. then i created the whole collection over again with a different collection name and without those 4 movies and that worked...for that collection. the other collection just keeps coming back with everything there. the only thing i've found that will stop it from coming back is turning off the option to automatically create a collection when 2 or more movies have the same collection name, but i don't want that.

jellyfin server is on unraid os as docker.

Do you have the TMDB Box sets plugin installed? Or "Automatically add to collection" in the library settings for your movies?

Yes, i have both. if i turn off the "automatically add to collection" option, the collection i want deleted doesn't come back, but then i have to manually add movies to any collection i create, which is not what i want. i want jellyfin to automatically add movies to a collection but something seems broken. i use TMM (tinymediamanager) to curate my library (create collections, add artwork, write nfo files and rename everything). in TMM, the movie set or collection i'm speaking about no longer includes the movies i wanted to remove, the nfo files don't have any reference to the collection anymore, so i'm not sure what jellyfin is seeing that is still creating that specific collection and adding those specific movies.

since i use tmm, do i even need the tmdb box set plugin?

Even if you have NFOs, if you still left enabled TMDB as a metadata providers in the library settings, it will pull down what collections a movie belongs to and re-create the collection.

the thing is, the collection i created, isn't in the tmdb collection database, it's a custom collection that i made. and i don't have any of the metadata providers active under the movies library since i pull all my data through tmm.

Did Jellyfin or TMM create a collection XML that is sitting somewhere in your library? That is my last idea at the moment.

absolutely nothing that i can find. the only place i know of that collection information is stored for jellyfin is appdata/data/data/collections or something like that. i can browse to that folder through unraid and if i enable "automatically add to collection" then scan my library, it creates a set there, but deleting it does nothing. as long as that "automatically add to collection" option is enabled, it doesn't matter where i delete it from or how many times i delete it, the unwanted collection comes back.

as for tmm, it creates .nfo files for movie collections in a folder wherever i choose on my server, but there is no longer an nfo for that collection under tmm as i deleted it.

    this is very frustrating.
