Not Detecting Episode No. Corrently

I have a series I'm trying to add to Jellyfin, but the episode numbers are not being correctly detected from the filename.

The path for the series is set up correctly as far as I can tell. Currently the format is "Series Name/Season 1/S01E123 - Name of Episode.mp4". Sometimes episodes in this folder get correctly numbered, or sometimes they're given what seems to be a random number.

It's even giving episodes in the same season the same episode number    

Despite having the same name format. Does anyone have an idea of why this might be? Here are some logs I think are relevant.

The only other thing I can think of is that the series in TVDB is not complete - there are only 28 or so episodes listed. But it doesn't seem to be in relation to what is or isnt on TVDB, so I'm not sure.

Edit: I just noticed that it stopped working at 256? Does jellyfin have a 256 episode limite per season or something like that? I can still manually set the episode numbers correctly > 256 tho

Jellyfin definitely does not have a 256 episode limit. Plenty of Jellyfin users with One Piece and the 1000+ episodes in that Anime. I have several shows with over 256 episodes.

Incomplete data in TVDB is definitely part or THE problem. If there is no TVDB/TMDB/OMDB metadata where is Jellyfin supposed to get data from? If it can't get info from TVDB/TMDB/etc., Jellyfin will make a best effort with the limited info available. And there is very limited info available for this podcast.

You'd probably have better luck with creating your own NFOs.

Well, that's pretty fair. My confusion though is that I though Jellyfin was supposed to grab episode info from the folder structure/filenames? It's getting the episode numbers correct for heaps of the episodes that aren't in TVDB too. Any idea why it might be getting some and not others?

Jellyfin will use the folder structure/file name for determining how to construct the query to TVDB/TMDB/<insert enabled online metadata sources>. If the online metadata source doesn't have anything, Jellyfin will fall back to any embedded metadata or NFOs.

If neither exists or they are incomplete, the results will be incomplete or inconsistent.

That makes sense! Although I'm still not understanding why it gets some correct and others not.cases
