I want to be able to listen to my music while walking around the house, so having Jellyfin streamed to my iPhone 6 would be beneficial. I set up Jellyfin on my Windows 11 (on an external hard drive that I keep constantly plugged in) and watching movies on my PC is fine but sometimes, I don't want to sit at my PC just to listen to music. In my opinion, I have tried everything (I've resorted to believing that my PC has something broken with LAN 😭). Here is what I've done:
    • Set up 2 firewall rules (port 8096, jellyfin.exe) (just in case one didn't work, I have 2)
    • Checked ā€œAllow remote connections to this serverā€ (I left every text box blank on the Networking page)Ā
    • Restarted both of my devices (Now that I think about it, I should restart the router too šŸ¤”)
    • Set my ā€œNetwork Profileā€ to PrivateĀ
I don't know what else to do. Is it because it's going from an Ethernet-connected device to a Wi-Fi connected device? Is it because of my PCs ability to connect to devices connected to a local network? I am in no way experienced in Network Technology, so please, help.

Is there an error message that's returned? off the top of my head the things I'd attempt if you're not able to connect (and the server isn't registering connection attempts):

first thing I'd check, is the address you're typing into your phone app correct? It should look something like http://192.168.0.145:8096 (or http://192.168.1.X:8096, http://10.0.0.X:8096, etc. there should be an address listed under networking on Windows of your server that you can verify the address). if that's being entered correctly check if any antivirus software is messing with the remote access for JF.

If neither of those get you anywhere, make sure your phone is on the same lan (not attempting to run over mobile data or through any sort of vpn); wifi -> lan should be fine, but if your phone is on a 'guest network' or sim that may make the computer unreachable.

I was using 192.168.56.1 The whole time… I should've been using 10.0.0.196. Thank you for reminding me that I have a 10.0.0.X IP XD
