Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. Just bought my first TV, got a sweet deal on a used 49" 4K Samsung. It's pretty awesome, but has Samsung's own proprietary OS & appstore, which has everything I need, except for Jellyfin.

Now I'm looking for an external device to connect via HDMI, to play back my Jellyfin media collection. I have tried my Raspberry Pi 4, but performance was underwhelming, especially with 4K HEVC stuff.

    My requirements are:
    • ability to install an official Jellyfin client (obviously), maybe some other apps
    • enough juice to play back 4K HEVC, AV1 support very welcome but not required
    • HDMI output, CEC support welcome but not required
    • HDR support very, very, very welcome
    • WiFi required for now, built-in Ethernet very welcome (I'll run Ethernet to the room eventually, but definitely not now)
    • at least one USB port for a TV keyboard, more not really needed
    • as power efficient as possible (expensive european electricity)

    Bonus points for:
    • enough performance for some emulation (up to PS2) / light 2D gaming
    • built-in Bluetooth for controllers

    Don't care about:
    • OS - can be Windows, Linux, Android, whatever
    • YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ etc, the TV itself can do those already
    • upgradable RAM / storage

Should I buy one of those Android TV boxes/sticks, or maybe a mini-PC or thin client with Windows or Linux, or maybe something else entirely? As for availability, I'm in Germany, most things should be available here.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions!

Found it, thank you! I foolishly assumed that Tizen is a walled garden, and if it's not on the appstore - it can't be installed.

I managed to install the application using this helper project, but when I launch the app, I get an error saying:

Failed to construct 'Headers': No matching constructor signature.

And then a stack trace. Seen anything like that?

Followed the instructions from the official repo (however unclear & incomplete they might be) and it finally worked perfectly. Thanks for the tips, case closed!

I use a Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
Its android based, so it uses android client.
    Works great for me.
I use WiFi & stream HEVC files.
    (Not tested 4K files specifically.)
    No idea about HDR.
It has USB port, but you will need usb splitter.
I have no idea how efficient it is on power.
