Jellyfin closes/stops on NAS ever 12 hours or so instead of staying up

I would like it to auto restart or just stay live

    Hi guys,

I have Jellyfin installed on my Synology NAS server. It's going well, but it randomly crashes maybe once or twice a day while I'm not using it.
I would like Jellyfin to always be live/running, otherwise I can't access it anytime, anywhere, and have to log into my NAS and manually start the application again. I've also shared access to Jellyfin with some family members located in different households; if it's not always running, they have to message me to start it up again sometimes.

Is there any way for me to either ensure it never closes, or to get it to auto-restart when it does crash/close?
    • The version of Jellyfin you are running (e.g. 10.8.10)
    10.8.13-13
    • Your installation method and platform (e.g. Linux Docker, Debian repository, Windows installer, etc.)
Package Center on Synology NAS 1019+ (Linux)
    • What client(s) you are using and how the issue manifests
Since Jellyfin has closed on my server, it won't open on anything until I go in and manually start it again.
    • Any other context you might think is relevant
I used the Jellyfin on the official Package Center instead of installing via Container Manger/Portainer. Maybe that's the issue?
The logs of Jellyfin don't seem to indicate why it crashed/closed its self.

Are you sure it's closing itself? If there is anything in the jellyfin log, anything in the system log?

The kernel could kill jellyfin because of memory pressure for example.

Could you post both so we can take a look?

Hey, thanks for taking a look.
Here is the last log file before Jellyfin closed overnight. It was over 2mb even in a txt so had to put it here: https://we.tl/t-QdEs9hhxEj

I can't access that site on my current PC. Can you zip the log file and attach it to a post here? Zipping it should make it small enough to attach.

I solved the issue! Had to uninstall my Jellyfin as I'd forgotten I had installed it originally using the unofficial community repository app "store".
Then I reinstalled using Portainer/Container Manager. There's some code in there that allows me to tell it to restart automatically on close. Plus I think it's more stable for some reason. Time will tell, but I think that's done the trick.
