    Hey all,

I’ve been hosting a server for a while but i’m looking to move my hardware to something more dedicated. I’d prefer to buy a Dell Poweredge or HP Proliant server as they’re rack mountable and cheap to buy used, but i’m not sure if a dual-CPU setup even works with jellyfin.

If it does, what Xeon processors are going to work best? Most of the sites selling server chassis are unloading older ones at a great price, but i’m unfamiliar with the Xeon family features. I plan on adding a dedicated GPU (likely an older 1080).

Honestly, unless you need a butt load of memory for a bunch of VMs, a 13100 would run circles around those Xeon CPUs for running a Jellyfin server. Recent Intel iGPUs are very capable.

But to answer your question, it makes no difference to Jellyfin how many CPU sockets there are. All that CPU management is done by the OS kernel.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB

Thanks for the quick response! An i7/9 would be easier, but I wanted to see if I can get away with being a cheapskate🤓.
