I use Kodi with my media served by a remote Jellyfin server. My connection is just about good enough to Direct Play anything, even 4K uncompressed backups. Therefore I do not set a global bitrate limit in the plugin settings, I leave this at maximum.
I have the option for the context menu transcode enabled, however when you actually press this, no bitrate selector is offered meaning the client asks the server to transcode to whatever target which is a pretty useless feature if you are trying to use the context transcode option to overcome bandwidth issues that are not constant.
If you set a limit in the plugin settings, then this forces transcoding to pretty much anything that exceeds the limit which is expected behaviour.
Surely the context menu transcoding option should show a bitrate selection so we can chose the target for the transcode?
Am I doing something wrong?
EDIT:
I have raised this on github as well. https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-kodi/issues/963
