Hi I’m running jellyfin 10.10.6 on an m1 silicon MacBook Air running Sequoia 15.3.2 I’m able to launch and configure the jellyfin server, but I am unable to access it (as a client) either by the internal ip or localhost:port with a browser, and every client I have tried (maybe 8?) requires an ip address to access your server. But again, either 127.0.0.1:8096 or localhost:8096 do not work.
My internet provider provides the router and I do not have configuration privileges. I do have my own ai mesh router for local LAN use and I’m able to configure that any way I like.
My configuration at home involves a firewall at the internal router, and a VPN on every device.
I’m wondering if there is any way, without being able to do port mapping on the Internet providers router, that I could at least get jellyfin going either a) while at home or b) while at home, download what I need, so that I could use media while on the go in an offline manner.
If it’s relevant, my media is being stored at the moment on the cloud with sync.com.
I’m finding getting into any number of apps very trying… ostensibly if got offline use in those app would work except that every app has a different ability to access files/folders on the devices… I am in search of a solution that will help me bypass having separate locations and sources for my files.
Jellyfin looks very promising for that end goal.
