I've recently been setting up a Jellyfin server to house my classic animation collection, and every time I add things to one of my libraries in bulk, some medadata is incorrect, which I have to go and manually get the correct metadata for, which I don't mind. But, every time I go to edit one of my libraries (ie. adding new folders), it resets the metadata of all the items I manually fixed back to the incorrect metadata. For example: the Tom and Jerry short "Puss Gets the Boot" from 1940 had the incorrect metadata when I added it, instead showing as "Battle of Norway - Campaign 1940," which I fixed manually. However, every time I edit one of my libraries (any of them), that specific short resets to the incorrect metadata (Battle of Norway).

I've tried multiple things, including hitting "lock this item to prevent future changes," and nothing seems to be fixing it, which is getting fairly frustrating. Hopefully someone has a solution.

Edit: I'm on version 8.10.12 on Windows 11 if that helps.

best to use NFO files in your case https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/metadata/nfo

in some instances adding the imdbid to the file/folder works [imdbid-tt00000] but im not sure that would even work with tom and jerry, probably too obscure
