Hi all, been loving my LG C8 plus the jellyfin app on webos, just a few video files I could not find any search results for that were issues.

1st issue - is there a color range limitation with my particular setup?  The videos that were playing HDR rather than DV as expected, had the color range as FULL as you can see below from the mediainfo (also when I was running an export of my library through another tool, it said these videos are "pc" (rather than "tv") under video stream color range whatever that means...) (FWIW, these are DV videos, and they play as HDR on the LG JF app, but as DV on the Chromecast JF app)

    [*]Color range                    : Full
    [*]Color primaries                : BT.2020
    [*]Transfer characteristics      : PQ
    [*]Matrix coefficients            : BT.2020 non-constant

2nd issue - is there a HEVC codec level limitation with my setup?  The two videos that would only transcode and stutter were showing as such in mediainfo: (Format profile: Main 10@L6.2@High or Main 10@L6@High).  FWIW, one of these also had color range as FULL in mediainfo.

Wondering if its something I am approaching incorrectly or just a limit of webOS?

    Thanks.

Color should generally be limited rather than full and TV rather than PC as far as I know. CP, TC, and MC all look fine. If the file is an MKV, WebOS doesn't support DV in MKV files. This is not a Jellyfin limitation, but rather LG WebOS at issue.

There shouldn't be a level limitation, however, the networking modules on LG TVs tend to be crap. My WiFi is faster than hard-wired because the ethernet port is limited to 100 Mbps. I haven't tested the limit of WiFi on WebOS. If you're watching high bitrate media (e.g., remuxes) you may be exceeding the transfer rate the TV can handle.

If you post a log to privatebin.net, we might be able to identify if there are any issues on the server side.

Thanks, yes they are all MKVs, but generally don't have any remuxing issues, network can handle it both hard wired and wifi, so not sure what is forcing them to go HDR rather than DV. I have to try to play these (under the first issue listed) again to see if they are remuxing HDR or direct playing HDR. Edit: Yes they are both remuxing.

For the levels, good to know there is no limitation, but these were transcoding and stuttering hard; and besides the level I can't think of anything else that would result in it remux ing and playing fine.

Will look into the log post, thanks.

    Update:

For the levels anomaly, one of the two is transcoding indicating "level not supported" (it is an HDR video) and doesn't even trigger HDR on the TV. THe second, a DV MKV, remuxes but freezes after a minute or two. Of note, this also happens on another LG streaming app.
