    Hello everyone =)

My issue is that Jellyfin Media Player for Windows became all of the sudden the only platform where I can't read any file.
As soon as I press play, JMP freezes and I have to close it and reopen it to try and troubleshoot parameters to fix it, but with no success atm.

Here are the due required basic info, I guess, needed to help me and maybe others out  Hushed-face

    Server :
Docker image on Synology NAS (DS720+)
    Version : 10.9.7 (latest Index-pointing-up )

    Client :
Jellyfin Media Player for Windows (x64)
    Version : 1.11.1 (latest)
    Windows : 11 23H2 (22631.3810)

Already attempted solutions and logical conclusions to my understanding :

    • Uninstalling JMP 1.11.1 and cleaning %AppData% jellyfin folders, reinstalling JMP 1.11.1 (maybe there are other folders that I should have deleted but I don't know them)
    • Asking one other same server user if working on his PC (it does, but he's under 1.10.1, will check again if necessary with latest version)
    • Tested the web version for playback (Chrome 126, works fine including AV1 files)
    • Tested the Android Mobile version for playback (Android 2.6.1, works also fine including AV1 files)

My guess is that something went wrong on my PC install, but I'd rather avoid reformatting, so, here I am  Speak-no-evil-monkey

Thanks beforehand to any helper =)

You are not alone. I've also had trouble with JMP on PopOS 22.04 after upgrading Jellyfin to 10.9.7. I haven't found a solution yet and also tried the same things you did.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB

    Hi, thanks for your reply

I've tried a few other things:
    • reinstalling JMP 1.10.1 after cleaning all Jellyfin files on my PC.
    • reinstalling C++ 2022 latest just in case, rebooted, and still nothing.

At least I know I don't have to clean install Windows 11 again just for this issue, so thanks a lot for replying !

(I just want to stress that this issue is really weird, as other members of my jellyfin server can play files normally, seems it specifically "targets" local clients)

When I brought this up in the Jellyfin team chat last night, I was the only one with the problem so it seems we are edge cases.

    Related?

Try this. In a browser, go to Dashboard > Devices and delete any sessions for Jellyfin Media Player. This will force you to log back in, but this resolve the weird JMP issues I was having with 10.9.7.
