    Hello all,

So currently, when a new version of a movie that already exist in my library is imported, instead of just replacing the old version of the movie with the new one, it completely gets rid of the old movie AND its metadata, then imports the new movie and fetches new metadata and images. I would just like to bring the new version of the movie in while keeping the metadata. Is this possible and if so, how do I set it up?

What kind of scan are you doing? If the file names are the same and you do a simple update scan it shouldn't replace everything.

Well the filenames aren't the same. Say I have movie Foo and I named it "Foo_DVD.mp4" but then my aggregator finds a Blu Ray of Foo, so it'll delete that "Foo_DVD.mp4" and "Foo_BluRay.mp4" will be the new version. Movie Foo already exist in Jellyfin and I would like to keep the existing metadata for Foo when upgrading (changing) the file.

Is there no way to simply overwrite the original. Remove all the tags? Rescanning should then keep all the metadata and just update the resolution and codecs.

Well I have multiple tags that have non recoverable info on a file in case I need to do a clean setup for whatever reason. So it’s not an option.
