    Hello..
I run a motion project server which records photos (jpg) and video (mp4) onto the server drive.  The server is runing on ubuntu 23:10.      Structure looks like /home/frank/motion/frontyard/2024-02-17/FrontYard_20240217072411.mp4.   There are additional folders  for frontdoor, pool1 and pool2 with subfolders for each day, containing jpg and mp4 files.   I have installed the jellyfin snap and completed the setup.   I have tried setting up libraries with  paths of "/home/frank/motion" , /home/frank/motion/frontyard" and /home/frank/motion/2024-02-17" .   Regardless, when I connect to the server http://192.168.1.101:8096, the libraries show no entries.    What am I missing or doing wrong?

Does the jellyfin user have permissions on those folders?

99% certain jellyfin doesn't have access to your home directory, nor should it.

If you are able to, move your files out of your home to some other directory where it is safe to give other users access to it.

DruckRental & TheDreadPirate....Thanks for your replies! I am okay with the files residing in my home directory on this particular setup. This is a single use PC that only runs the MOTION application. Since I want to share the Motion recordings, there is no issue giving Jelly users access to the directory. That being said, for purposes of testing the permission issues, I have changed all the permissions /home/frank/motion/*/*/* to 766 or rw rw rw. I would expect this to be adequate for jelly to server the files. None the less, even having changed the file permissions, the files are still not displayed. So.. What else do I need to check?

If you want other users to access your home, the directories need to be either 5 or 7 for group/other. For a user to navigate through a directory structure, they need read permission to read the contents and execute permissions because navigating to a directory is executing a command.

Thanks to all for your responses. So, I removed the itrue-jellyfin snap, and went through the process of manually installing Jellyfin. Success! Evidently whatever the problem was, it was with the snap.
