    Increase number of log files

How do I get to store more than 3 days worth of log files?

I'm curious as to why Venson is saying old log files are still there when they aren't, is there a possible bug in the SynoCommunity build or am I just unlucky?

The scheduled task hasn't run for 2 days since I deleted the trigger yet it's still only storing the most recent 3 days.  Where can I turn that off?

    Hey Six66Mike,

Venson actually already provided the correct answer here. It is the Clean Log Directory task that is cycling out older log files, and it is a user adjustable setting. You will find it in your scheduled tasks. By default, it runs every 24 hours.

If you adjust this, you can preserve logs for longer. You are also welcome to simply turn it off, if you don't want log rotation. Just remember that they will eventually fill your drive.

If something else is still removing the logs, it's not jellyfin.

I disabled that job and it hasn't run for 24 days now, and there's still only just the 3 files in /volume1/@appstore/jellyfin/var/log

    log_20230915.log log_20230916.log log_20230917.log

Clean Activity Log and Clean Log Directory were turned off 24 days ago and haven't run since, the other Maintenance tasks still run once every 24 hours (Clean Cache Directory, Clean Transcode Directory, Optimize database).

I installed Log Centre on the NAS and tried to find a way to import the log from Jellyfin, no dice. Also tried to find a way to re-direct the logs to another path, also no dice. Or even something to copy them to an alt path elsewhere on the NAS.. swing and a miss. Confused-face
Apologies for any responses that seem short/rude, on the spectrum and get frustrated very easily with technology. Do my best to keep it under wraps but doesn't always work when something isn't going as it should. Weary-face

That sounds like a bona fide bug then. Lets go ahead and heave you submit an issue on the server github. That probably needs some investigation from the development team.

Frankly, I think the hard-coded 3 day time period on the user-adjustable log cleaning task also makes no sense. As it will still only leave you with 3 days of logs no matter when it runs.

I think this functionality just needs a look.

You can submit an issue for it here: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues
