I like the Jellyfin clients over Kodi for most things, but subtitles seem to be a pressure point for my use case (my household needs Spanish subs for pretty much everything). External subtitles sourced online are rarely in good sync with my media right away and one of the best things about Kodi is that I can change the sync on the fly during playback. For movies, especially ones that I expect to be in my library long term or I otherwise have the opportunity for extra prep, it's pretty simple to just open the SRT in SubtitleEdit and adjust the sync before watching, but between the volume of episodes involved and having to find and resync at every commercial break because nobody can agree on how long to pause for breaks, it's impractical to do this for shows.
I seem to recall being able to do some relatively clunky adjustments to subtitle sync on Android TV by exiting to the media info page, which would at least help for movies with matching frame rates, but I can't find that option now. I've experimented with JF plugins for Kodi but it seemed to create more problems than it solved.
