Video Stutterin, is this a transcoding issue?

Hi Team,

I recently download jellyfin in my new setup (NVME, 9800X3D and a 5080) and I use it to connect to my LG Oled TV, using the jellyfin app.

When I start Watching a movie, it keeps buffering even if I let it buffer for a while, when I hit play it still buffers. This didn't happen with my old set-up.
I have tried to enable hardware transcoding for all plugins, but it also didn't help. Any suggestions?

Also, why are subtitles and audio codecs not supported? Do I need to download it on the server?

Could you please post your log to privatebin.net? Makes it easier to parse. Seems to be transcoding just fine (6x+).

Follow those instructions to ensure your host is set up correctly. I'd recommend uploading the log first so we can take a look.

No. This is all because of your client (and media). Unless you have a device capable of direct playback of Dolby TrueHD Atmos, the audio will be transcoded. The entire media file is being transcoded because of the subtitles. Bluray subs (PGS - presentation graphic stream) are not supported in direct play with the vast majority of clients. Turn off your subtitles and I'd guess -- if your client is capable of playing 4K HDR -- only the audio will be transcoded.

You should avoid media (or re-encode lossless sources) with codecs you can't play. If you're running a TV with just the internal speakers, you will NOT notice a difference between Dolby TrueHD Atmos and AAC if the bitrate is in the sweet spot. Also avoid PGS, VOB, DVD, complex ASS/SSA, and VTT subs if you want to avoid transcoding.

Regarding the audio, my TV if I'm not mistaken my LG C3 does not support Dolby TrueHD Atmos, but I do have a 7.1 set-up to play the sound.

About the subtitles. Most of the media I watch already comes with subtitles and since english is not my main language I use them. How can I play the subtitles but avoid transcoding, Is there a way to disable the media subtitles and use one that does not trigger transcoding?

I tested disabling the subtitles. It did start direct streaming but it still has stuttering issues. What could be the reason?

Are you hard-wired or using WiFi? LG TVs have real garbage ethernet hardware. I have found WiFi a better bet. With that average bit rate, you might be maxing out the 100 Mb/s limit at peak bit rate.
