I am using xubuntu and have extracted English subtitles from an Outlander series episode. I used Google to translate them into Chinese and uploaded them using the Bazarr option. The .srt file is evident alongside the .mkv and Bazarr shows the Chinese (ZH) subtitle file is recognised is the series list.

However, when I play the media in Jellyfin the option to use the Chinese subtitles is missing. As a result, only the English subtitles are available and screened.

I have many other Chinese subtitles in the series which were obtained using the Bazarr translate from the embedded English option (also Google?), in the menu. These can be used correctly and has been suggested in the Bazarr Discord forum that it may be a Jellyfin problem as everything appears correct as far as Bazarr is concerned.

I have scanned the libraries and restarted Jellyfin many times while trying to find a solution. I have looked at the Jellyfin logs (although I have no real idea), but cannot see any errors.

Can anyone suggest why Jellyfin screens a Chinese translated file prepared by Bazarr but not one uploaded via Bazarr?

Question: Is there some way to compare the .srt files to ascertain of they are identical in form?

    TIA

I have found Bazarr error - please ignore post for time being.
