    Synology Model: DS214+
    Software: DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6

    I don't see a CFIS setting but I'm assuming the SMB tab is the one?
    It is enabled and the workgroup is WORKGROUP
    Protocol is SMB3

    CIFS = SMB

    What credentials are in .smbcredentials? For the user on the client we are trying to mount the share on? Or for a user that exists on your NAS.

    @Efficient_Good_5784 - How do SMB shares work with Synology? Would the NAS's admin credentials work? Or is there additional setup needed?

    I believe that you can specify a multitude of users that have access to the same shares, so multiple credentials should work depending on how it's set up. Admin should be one of them by default.

    So the way Synology SMB shares work is you enable the service. All folders should be reachable now by SMB.
    You then have to go to the "Shared Folder" tab in the control panel and edit the permissions of all the shared folders to decide which users can use what folders.

    @Efficient_Good_5784 - Thanks for confirming! I figured I had at least one part of the puzzle figured out.
