I have just switched from Kodi to Jellyfin, and I have quite a big music video collection on my TrueNAS server (where I also have Jellyfin installed), with folder structure simply like Media\Videos\Musicvideos\F\ which means that each folder has music videos sorted by artist name - song name. For example:

    Faith No More - Stripsearch.mkv
    Fastball - The Way.mpg

    etc.

I also have .nfo files accordingly with most of the files. So, each alphabet has its own folder and music videos. But for some reason there is no option to sort music videos by artist?

This leads to list of music videos and you can see the song name and album name, which is quite odd. Naturally, I would like to see Artist name and Song name on that list with thumbnails. The info is all there in the nfo files so it should be possible?

The music videos library is a glorified folder view. I'm not aware of a way to achieve Music library like sorting with music videos.

    Why, though?

I mean, if I have a music video file on my folder called "Guns N Roses - Don't cry.mkv", On the Jellyfin screen I see a screenshot and text below: Don't Cry, Use Your Illusion II". I mean, .nfo file contains this:

    <artist>Guns N' Roses</artist>

So the needed information is there, it just seems that obvious sorting option is missing from Music Videos view.

Seems like I can find my music videos if I browse my "Music" category, with mp3 files etc, but that's not very convenient if I just want to browse my music video collection. Also, my music videos have plot in nfo files, like this:

" <plot>"Don't Cry" is a power ballad by the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, two versions of which were released simultaneously on different albums. The version with the original lyrics is the fourth track on Use Your Illusion I, while the version with the alternate lyrics is the 13th track on Use Your Illusion II. Only the vocal tracks differ, and even then only in the verses; however, in those verses, not only are the words entirely different, but the meter and melody are also slightly different. There is also a third version, officially released only on the single for the song, which was recorded during Appetite for Destruction sessions in 1986.

The song reached the top 10 in many countries, including peaking at number eight on the UK Singles Chart and number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In Ireland "Don't Cry" became Guns N' Roses' second number-one single, and in Finland it became the second number-one hit from the Use Your Illusion albums.</plot>"

With Kodi I could read this before playing the video, if I wanted, but I guess Joplin does not show these.

I solved this by trying Emby instead, and that works pretty much out of the box just how I want, with music videos as well. Maybe in future I will try Jellyfin again, if it has improved, but it's not ready for my purposes yet.
