Clear the Android TV app cache for jellyfin?

How do I do this? First time connecting Android TV box to my server, The two are not on the same network.

If this is the first time, you shouldn't need to clear the app cache.

I'm assuming you are using your a domain or some kind, which I'm assuming you typed in. Is Jellyfin using a non-standard port? Something other than 8096, 8920, 80, or 443?

Yes I use a different port on my server, which is port forwarded and accessible outside my LAN. I have the correct port entered into the Android TV, exactly as entered on the JF ios app which sees my server without issue.

What kind of Android TV device is it, running what version of Android? Are you using https? If so, is it a legit cert or self-signed? If legit, from what cert authority? Does your Android TV device trust the cert authority?

It is a Telus Optik TV box (got it just for this purpose) that was just updated but I'm not certain the exact Android version (will check) and no, not using https.

In the jellyfin logs, do you see the connection attempts?

I don't believe so. There doesn't look like any attempt to connect by any new device.

The box is running Jellyfin-androidtv 0.16.11
The device is model TELUSTV-21T (brand new) Android 10, API:29

This sounds like a DNS problem. Is your phone on the same LAN as your Android TV device? Both configured the same in terms of DNS? Do you have a pihole or some other DNS based ad blocker on your network?

Is the Telus box configured to use its own DNS?

The box it a Telus Optik TV device connected through Ethernet to the Telus modem for TV service.

My server runs on my home LAN which goes through that same modem but not the same network. (I think, trying to remember the initial install 4 years ago).

My phone is on the LAN or through cellular.

I have not setup any DNS services, don’t know what pihole is.

No issues connecting to my server on my LAN, through cellular out outside my home network.

Moved my issue over to the troubleshooting forum.
