Trying to decide between an AMD 8700G and Intel 14700T for my new Proxmox/Jellyfin server:

    AMD Pros
    - Hardware AV1 encoder
    - Lower peak power usage

    AMD Cons
    - Bad H264/mediocre HEVC encoding quality
    - Higher idle power usage

    Intel Pros
    - Great H264/HEVC encoding quality
    - More cores/threads for VMs and containers
    - Lower idle power usage

    Intel Cons
    - No hardware AV1 encoder
    - High peak power usage
    - P-core/E-core weirdness for VMs

    Which option would you choose?

I'd choose the Intel CPU. AMD's AV1 encoder isn't as good as Intels HEVC encoder. In all codecs, Intel would produce better quality transcodes.

Will 8700G be a better choice since it has graphic card 780M?

The 14700T will be a better choice for transcoding in Jellyfin.
