I recently ripped my copies of three of my favorite old Sanrio shows from Japan from 2005:
Onegai My Melody
Onegai My Melody Kurukuru Shuffle
Onegai My Melody Kirara
I have tried off and on for two weeks to get Jellyfin to properly recognize these series, each within their own subfolders in my TV folder, and all, like everything else, pulling metadata from db's set for tv shows and anime, as you do.
What they should do: Classify and place three separate series in my TV folder.
What they do: Either both Kurukuru shuffle gets, for some unknown reason, placed into the same "series" as OMM, and kirara is separated properly, or as is happening currently after trying to fix this, all three series just get put into a mixed bag under Onegai My Melody.
Initially, it was just throwing both OMM and KKS both into "season 1" of OMM and mixing them all together, obviously not getting the metadata right, and having many episodes have the same incorrect thumbnail and same incorrect title and episode number, so I tried just listing KKS as "season 2" in the same subfolder as OMM, which did make it display as a "season 2" correctly in the OMM series page (which technically/chronologically it could be considered a season 2, so that's fine).
But now, even though I did not touch Kirara and it initially did list Kirara correctly in a separate series page, it now, for some reason, has mixed Kirara in with season 1 of OMM, again with mixed up episode orders, wrong thumbs and titles specifically on many of the Kirara episodes. Incorrect thumbs and titles that match OMM season 1 episodes. Again, Kirara is in a totally separate subfolder, is not considered a season of OMM by anyone, is a totally different show with the same characters, and it HAS NOT BEEN MOVED INTO THIS SUBFOLDER.
What would be AMAZING: If there was a way to manually correct Jellfyin as to what subfolder is supposed to be what show so it can create a new series page for it and let you identify it separately from anything else, since the separate subfolders do not seem to be creating the desired behavior for this show.
Or if it just worked like all the other shows.
I would love to blame all this on AniDB but it lists the shows correctly, and it definitely did not move Kirara into the OMM season 1 before I tried to move KKS into season 2 as a workaround.
THE ONLY WAY I CAN REALISTICALLY WORK AROUND THIS:
Removing ALL separate series subfolders from the TV folder and listing all shows under OMM as: OMM season 1, KKS season 2, and Kirara season 3.
This is not how I want them to display in my TV library, but it does at least list the shows and episodes correctly when done this way.
Please god help me this is driving me insane.
