    Hey everyone,

I'm running a Jellyfin (Version 10.10.5) server on a Debian VM and have several AV1 MKV movies with Opus 7.1 and 5.1 audio tracks.
When playing these movies in the ARC (Chrome) browser on Mac, playback only works with the audio /language track flagged as "default."
If I switch to another track, the movie refuses to load.
Interestingly, this issue only occurs in the browser on Mac.
It works fine on Apple TV, my phone, and my tablet.
Unfortunately, I can't test it on a PC since I don’t have one.

So far, my workaround has been using MKVToolNix to reassign the default flag to my preferred audio track, but doing this manually for 30+ movies is quite tedious.

Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution?

    Thanks!Love-you-gesture

I know that Opus 7.1 will not transcode properly if the client is not compatible. A large issue there is that most vanilla devices (TV, phone, tablet) do not support 7.1. This triggers transcoding, which leads to media that seemingly doesn't play or plays without sound.

May not be the issue here, but worth checking if transcoding of audio is the culprit. A little more info on your setup as well as logs would be helpful.

    Hey Bitmap,

Thanks for your help so far. How can I check if transcoding is the culprit?
I don't have this problem on all mobile or smaller devices like iPhones, iPads, or AppleTVs except the Browser on my Mac (m3 Macbook Pro).

    Setup:
I'm running Jellyfin normally installed on a Debian VM under Proxmox on my Minisforum Nab6 (Intel-i7-12650H).
The VM has 2 cores and 4 GB RAM. Hardware transcoding is enabled with the integrated GPU and works great for everything.
The media library is located on a separate NAS and the server is reachable through a Nginx Reverse Proxy.

I tried one movie (Guardians of the Galaxy 3) where everything works, and one (Wall-E) where it doesn't.
