The RX 6500XT does not have an encoder. Only decoders. The 6600 and up have encoders.

Let's back up a second. Will this system do anything except run Jellyfin? Specifically, will you be gaming on this system? The answer to that question will determine my answer and recommendation.

It does, but the quality is.....not great.

The reason I ask is that if you are acquiring a GPU for the express purpose of using with Jellyfin, AMD GPUs are not recommended.

    Intel > Nvidia > AMD

Intel Arc GPUs are cheap and are still the gold standard when it comes to encoding quality.

The entire Arc lineup has the same media engine. Getting the A310 will get you the same transcoding performance. The only difference that matters for Jellyfin is VRAM. But that only comes into play when a client needs HDR to be tone mapped to SDR. My A380 can do ~12 HDR to SDR tone mapped streams.

If you don't need that many tone mapped streams, save yourself the money and get either a A310 or A380.
