Folder view doesnt show files?

When I add files to my music directory, they show up in the library.   But when I go to folder view, they don't show up.   What could possibly be the reason? Fedora 38 install, and the files come from SMB share off Truenas. But I don't see how any of that matters... Jellyfin finds the files and adds to the library, they just show as empty folder in folder view. It's really weird.

Still can't figure this out... it has to be a permission issue, because i notice older files show up in folder views, but anything new i add doesn't. But like I said, they do show up in the library, so Jellyfin is seeing them OK. This is so weird. No issues with the same directories in Plex.

Jellyfin server user has r+x perms on the folders? You can playback the files via the library view?

Yes, the files play in library view just fine.

I also created a new VM, this time Ubuntu. Fresh install of jellyfin server, connect to files via SMB, and viola- same damn thing! So, it *seems* to clearly be a permissions issue from my files, but at the same time how can it be when the library view works perfectly? I am only having this issue in folder view mode. I really wish Jellyfin had a regular file browser mode like Plex does.

Still no resolution. I just want a regular file browser mode. I throw all of my good songs into a folder, and i want jellyfin to play everything in that folder randomly. That is all. Plex can do it.

Jellyfin does not have a folder view like the one you are looking for. There has been a feature request for one for a fair amount of time: https://features.jellyfin.org/posts/224/...-libraries

Nobody has picked it up to build it, though. Feel free to be that hero if you think it's needed. It doesn't seem like any developer has wanted to build it thus far. Plex is always still an option too.
