    Hello all...

I'm having issues with my Jellyfin install with Firestick 4Ks, the 4K Movies more often will play but with a black screen. Sometimes do not play at all saying an error was encountered.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We would need to see your jellyfin logs, ffmpeg logs, and what the media info for the video.

This looks like a client side bug. But the transcoding is happening because the bitrate is higher than the client max. Try manually setting the max bitrate on the client to 120Mbps.

Adjusting the bitrate to 120mb allows the movie to play but all I have is a black screen.

This sounds like a client side bug. IMO, your two options are to select a lower bit rate to force transcoding (if you have "Allow encoding in HEVC format" checked, uncheck it) or perhaps give the beta version of the Jellyfin Android TV app a try. You're not the first person with this kind of issue on a Firestick.

Thanks for the reply, Ive tried BETA and remains the same black screen with sound.

One thing Ive noticed though is that when the screens black I lose everything. I cant even see the jellyfin slider or buttons.

This is because the file has both DolbyVision and HDR10+, which results in a black screen on Fire Tv Stick 4k Max. See this thread for more info: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-and...ssues/2630

I have created a fix to force a HW transcode of these files with a new setting, which may work for you: https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-force-trans...ick-4k-max
