I’ve already opened an issue about this. it's been over a month and no one from the dev team has looked into it even though the bug is reproducible and logs were provided in the issue page.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Describe the bug
    1. Settings -> Client Settings -> Video player type -> External player
    2. Settings -> Client Settings -> External player app -> MPV Player
    3. play a media, let it play or seek forward then exit the media
    4. Media plays from the start or doesn't resume from where it was left.
    5. Pull your hairs out because the bug is hit or miss, sometimes it resumes but most of the times it doesn't

    Logs
    logcat
The logs should show #1608 bug as well.

    Application version
    2.6.2
Where did you install the app from?
    Google Play
    Device information
    Redmi note 11 pro 5g
    Android version
    Android 15, Lineage OS 22.1
    Jellyfin server version
    10.10.7

Which video player implementations does this bug apply to?
    • External player (VLC, mpv, MX Player)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it seems like android tv version doesn't have the issue

this was suggested as an alternative that could solve it on another thread but not accepted by the devs. I respect their decision on that but having external player
