Hi,
I’ve been using Plex & Emby for years now & I’m working to move away from Plex entirely. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Jellyfin & would like to try it out, too.
I’ve setup Jellyfin to use different ports than Emby so they don’t screw each other up, and that part seems to be working just fine. Obviously, I’ve also setup Jellyfin to read from the same media folders.
I have Emby setup to write metadata and nfo to folders. Right now, I don’t want Jellyfin to overwrite the files/folders that are already there as many images especially are custom and I don’t want things to get messed up at this point. With this in mind, I’ve disabled any online metadata agents for JF and I’ve not checked the options for writing nfo/images to folders.
So, will Jellyfin simply read the existing nfo and images that are currently in place?
If, in the future I want JF to take over the nfo/images files, once I enable those features and online metadata agents, will JF simply start writing any new metadata to nfo and images to folders? I assume it won’t change current nfo/images unless I explicitly tell it to refresh the metadata.
Is there anything else I need to do to be sure things don’t get messy with both servers running side by side?
Thanks!
